As I’m sitting here on this 2nd day of January, contemplating whether or not I should start taking down Christmas, I am instead thinking about a recent conversation that I had with a friend about my little photography business that I started almost 6 years ago. She complemented me for being able to “make it” doing something that I love. That statement really got me thinking about what I do, and what I have done in my past. I have worked for about 30 years, some jobs part time, some jobs more as a career (mostly in retail/wholesale apparel), some great, some not so great, but nothing I would say I really loved. As a kid, I had my eye on being a clothing buyer for a store. I actually did that for several years at Nordstrom…and even with accomplishing that dream, that job wasn’t really everything I thought it would be. I am proud to say that I have really landed in something that I love. I love meeting new people and families that show up to our shoot ready to take photos. I love winning over kids that might not be so sure about a stranger sticking a camera lens near them. I love creating custom photo sets and images that are new, fresh and creative with each client I have. I love delivering photo galleries, and getting products to my clients for them to put on display in their homes.
This past year, I shot 63 families, 6 extended families, 2 Bat Mitzvahs, 1 Bar Mitzvah, 1 engagement, 1 wedding, 4 newborns and 12 head shot sessions. I also donated my time to photography our local school Silent Auction fundraiser event, and donated 5 photo sessions for our local schools.
It’s true, I do love what I do. But most importantly, I couldn’t do it without you…my clients. I’m so very thankful to you for trusting me to capture you and your family. And so thankful that you see something in my style that you like, and that you want for yourself. Seriously, so thankful!
so, thank YOU for being the reason why I love what I do.
Happy New Year…so excited for what 2017 will bring!
