Jump! . I Heart Faces photo challenge

I Heart Faces is one of the best sites I send people who ask me how to improve their camera skills. Besides the great tutorials, they also have photo challenges that are really fun to participate in. This month’s challenge theme is, “Jump!”. Boy, do I have a good one for this! Check it out…don’t you love the little guy in the front? Be sure to head over to their page to see all the other Jump photos!

What a lovely family.  I am pretty sure I say that truth about every family I shoot…but it’s true.  I so enjoy the time I get to spend getting to know my lovely clients.

So, this momma wanted to do her photos at LAX.  LAX?  Yes…at the Los Angeles Airport.  How does one go about getting permission to do family photos at LAX?  I don’t really know, so, we just went.  And, I didn’t get arrested for a breach of security, which was good.

I love these photos, where the family does what they do.  Hang out by the pool, play monopoly, play with their pet rabbit, etc.  We had a great time, and I so enjoyed documenting their day.  Enjoy!

Sometimes I want to turn back the clock, especially when I photograph little girls.  These littles reminded me of my own when they were this age.  Dancing, twirling, pushing baby dolls in their strollers, wearing princess tutus, and carrying their little purses. They are all “girl”….just like my own. I had always been told that it goes by so fast…and I just don’t believe it until I see little girls like these. Then I realize that 3 and 1 quickly turns into 9 and 7. I so enjoyed being with this family ~ so funny and perfect in every way.

I think I fell in love with the beautiful light that came through their windows, and the monograms on the sheets in the master bedroom. I drooled over their stairs and gorgeous front door, which also happens to be the place where my favorites from this session took place. I loved that they just did their “thing” in their house, and I had the cool privilege of capturing it all.  Enjoy.

Nine year olds. Nine year old twins. Nine year old twin boys. BOYS. Pretty sure these fellas wanted nothing to do with me on this lovely afternoon…but, that doesn’t really surprise me too much.  I don’t think there are any 9 year old boys who especially want to spend an hour in button down shirts, crisp white shorts, and with a photographer telling them where to walk, where to look, and everything inbetween. I am positive that guys like these would rather be playing sports, watching sports, hanging out with their friends, or even organizing their sock drawer. =)

Their momma and dad are an awesome couple, who were super willing to play along with my vision…so, we kept moving.  Sit here, walk there, go into this cafe…hey, let’s try on glasses (that was dad’s awesome idea), walk down here, check out this fountain, and then, let’s head down to the beach.  “The beach?”  Yes.  YES!!  Boys were really keen on that idea…so, after the last bit of “looking and smiling”, we went down to the sand, and had the BEST TIME!! They played chase with the waves, they jumped off the sand burms, and we totally bonded!! They smiled at me and we had FUN!!

I am so happy with how this session turned out..it is exactly how our afternoon went…they had an adventure, and now they have documentation of it.  This lovely family is moving to the east coast, and I am so tickled that they will have these memories of their town to treasure for a long time to come.

Enjoy!

We took a stroll in Manhattan Beach for this photo session…we started in the Metlox area of Manhattan Beach, and cruised over to the courtyard, and then onto the beach, right underneath the Manhattan Beach Pier.  I loved their outfit choices and colors…and most of all the genuine fondness that they showed each other. What a very sweet group, I am so fortunate to have met them.  Enjoy the photos!

I love taking pictures of people…of personalities, of love, of relationships, of connections, of giggles and of real life. Sometimes beauty takes on a bit of messiness, but in the end, you will be able to see the real and authentic love that you and your people have for one another. And that…is what matters.

Let’s make this easy – Sessions are One Price, ALL INCLUSIVE and stress free.
