Family of 5 . Samantha, Collin + Billy . Manhattan Beach family photographer

It was 1987…I had just moved to Northridge to start college at California State University, Northridge. I was one of just 3 people from my high school that would be attending there, so I decided to rush, or join a sorority to meet some friends. I met Shauna at the Kappa Kappa Gamma 1st day party, and I was smitten. She was so put together, and to me, was the epitome of what a sorority woman should be… kind, smart, outgoing and confident. She truly was one of the reasons that I became a Kappa.

Fast forward almost 30 years later, and we have reconnected as friends, both living in the same community. She’s been married for 20+ years to a really nice guy, and has 3 amazing kids. I feel so fortunate that she asked me to photograph her family, as well as her daughter, Samantha’s, senior photos.

In my “Missy” fashion, I went ahead and added a scanned photo from 1987 of Shauna of myself at bid day at the end of this blog…. just promise you won’t laugh at my hair!

Enjoy, missy

Happy Birthday Photo Shoot . Donovan + Ava . Redondo Beach photographer

Happy Birthday photo shoot? How cool is it that the momma of these 2 schedules a photo shoot on the exact day of their birth? I just love how she upholds this tradition every year! Both kids were so lovely and kind…and may have had a bit of fun with me.

enjoy! missy

Beach Wedding . Hermosa Beach Photographer . Missy Marie Photography

They call Yorba Linda their home, but decided on the obvious choice of holding their beautiful and intimate wedding at the bride’s mom’s house just steps away from the sand and ocean in Hermosa Beach, CA. What a perfect place that not only holds such wonderful old memories, but will also be the place for their newest memory to be, too. George was Zelda’s client, and through their interactions, they discovered things about each other that just couldn’t be ignored. They both adored their families, traveling, good food and adventures. Could this be love?

Yes! So, they planned a wedding! Impeccable details, delicious food and drinks, dear family and friends, and a gorgeous back drop of her mom’s almost 100 year old home, and the beautifully lit beach made for a perfect setting for love. The family had a big part in putting this day on, from doing Zelda’s hair and make-up, to setting up the patio for the reception, and even carrying out the wedding arch that would be the spot where the vows would take place.

Thank you so much to Zelda and George for having me be a part of your special day. You are both truly amazing, and I enjoyed so much being a part of your perfect wedding day.

Manhattan Beach Bat Mitzvah photographer . Missy Marie Photography

What an honor to be a witness and the photographer for Samantha’s bat mitzvah! She prepared herself and studied so diligently for this day, and I couldn’t have been prouder! Both the ceremony and party was held at the Manhattan Beach Marriott, which was also where Samantha’s parents got married many years ago. What a perfect day of celebration with over 250 of their family and friends; what a way to party!

I love taking pictures of people…of personalities, of love, of relationships, of connections, of giggles and of real life. Sometimes beauty takes on a bit of messiness, but in the end, you will be able to see the real and authentic love that you and your people have for one another. And that…is what matters.

Let’s make this easy – Sessions are One Price, ALL INCLUSIVE and stress free.
