I love taking pictures of people…of personalities, of love, of relationships, of connections, of giggles and of real life. Sometimes beauty takes on a bit of messiness, but in the end, you will be able to see the real and authentic love that you and your people have for one another. And that…is what matters.
I am a lifestyle photographer, specializing in families and kids, and am based in Hermosa Beach, California.
The older I get, the more I realize what is important, and what stands out as a priority in my life. I am narrowing more and more into what is meaningful to me and what isn’t. If you look at my house, you will know that a perfectly decorated home isn’t. You’ll know when you see me in my yoga pants, loosey goosey tee shirt and disheveled ponytail that “fashion” isn’t. And when you see my un-landscaped yard and messy car, you’ll know that those things don’t really matter to me either.
But, when you see my calendar filled with coffee or dinner dates with my sisters, or silly selfies of me and my family on Instagram… or the happiness on my face when I see friends, you’ll know that these are the things that really do matter to me. I want to surround myself with these people, and those who I have a mutual love fest with!
I am enjoying how my take on life has translated into my photography. At the end of the day, what really matters to me is how I can capture these “things” that matter for you. I want to capture you with the people you love. I want to capture your personalities, your love, your relationships, your connections, and your real lives together. Because, really ~ that is what matters. For me, photography is about recording those unexpected moments, the beauty and realness of people.
Oh, you want to know more? Ok, well, I have 2 teen daughters on the verge of adulthood (yikes!). I love diet coke, coffee and baked goods like no other. I love Anthropologie, Modern Family, watching my kids get along and video chatting with my sisters. Music is a thing in our house…we love to play the guitar, keyboard, and ukulele or belt out a tune into the microphone. I love photos; even the old faded ones in frames that grace every surface and wall in my house. My mom is a potter, my aunt is a quilter and seamstress, my sister is a graphic designer, and my youngest daughter loves to draw ~ art is in our DNA. Sometimes I snort when I laugh…even more hilarious is hearing my 14 year old do it, too. And…Marie is my middle name.
