This past weekend, I had the honor of photographing a fundraising event at the Manhattan Country Club, which was held to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Over 150 people came for dinner, dancing, gambling and of course, giving.
This event was co-founded by 2 local women, Christina Holman and Tara Hackley, both who hold this cause very close to their hearts. In 2010, Tara’s son fought brain cancer, and won, and is among the very fortunate pediatric cancer survivors. Armed with gratitude and the desire to “do something”, these 2 women work to fundraise both through this event, as well as the Tour de Pier.
Let’s talk about the organization that is behind raising this money, Unravel Pediatric Cancer. Founded by Libby Kranz, a mom who recently lost her daughter due to a terminal brain tumor, plows forward by raising awareness through her organization, about the lack of funding for pediatric cancer research. Her story is incredible, and her strength is insurmountable and inspiring to say the least. Because of these 3 amazing women, more people will be aware of the need for money for pediatric cancer research. If you want to learn more about this incredible organization, and the people who are key to pushing research forward, click here. And of course, if you feel inclined to donate, you can click here.
